Her memorial service will be held at Christ the King Church Saturday, August 25th at 10 am. WinGS ladies group from CTK will provide a potluck lunch for those paying respects to the memory of Donna Cozart.

    Bill Lorenz passed away Sunday afternoon, July 29, 2018 and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Family members are wife Kay, children Heidi (Ed) Pasic, Lisa Artz, Tony (Mary) Lorenz, Stephanie (Al) Elio, and Jeff (Suzi) Lorenz. Also are sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A memorial service is tentatively planned for August 16th, but is not yet confirmed.     Ralph Felker Barnhardt, 73, of Black Hawk, Colorado, formerly of Kannapolis, NC, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

    He was born October 29, 1944 in NC to late Ralph and Virginia Barnhardt. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School, class of 1963. Ralph was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed being a member of the Wild Bunch as they did reenactments of early Central City, Colorado life. (more…)

    Florence “Flo” A. (Mischke) Bostick, age 87, formerly of Westcliffe and Black Hawk, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the Warren Barr Nursing Care of Lincolnshire. She was born October 12, 1930 in Chicago, IL to her loving parents, John and Margaret Mischke.

    Flo was a long-time educator in Black Hawk, Florida, and Illinois. She was a long-time teacher at Gilpin County School. She retired from there in 1998 and then moved to Westcliffe. She loved Colorado and was sorry to move to (more…)

    On Friday, May 4, 2018, Christine (Chris, CJ, Noodles) Johnson, mother, daughter, sister, and friend passed away at the age of 66 years. Chris lived in Nederland and Gilpin County in the early 1970’s and spoke of her time here fondly. She brought light and happiness everywhere she went.

    Kevin Paul Armbright, currently of Beatrice, Nebraska, was born on November 2, 1962 in Peoria, Illinois, to Phyllis Armbright and the late Paul Armbright. Kevin was 55, and passed away on July 2, 2018 in Omaha, Nebraska at the Nebraska Medical Center, and his children were by his side when he passed. He grew up in Illinois and Colorado, and spent some time in California. Kevin graduated from Gilpin County High School and was involved in basketball, football, and rodeo in high school.     A memorial service for George R. Snyder was held on Saturday, June 30, at 1:00 p.m. at Central City’s historic Masonic Lodge No. 6.     Christa Maria (Seidel) Siemer, 93, departed this life on May 24th, 2018. Christa, or Chris (as she was known to many) was born on November 22, 1924 in Trachenberg, Germany. As the daughter of a dentist, Christa spent a happy childhood until World War II when the family became refugees. At the age of 16 Christa joined the Red Cross as a nurse’s aide.

    My dad, Edward R. Lewandowski, passed away on March 14, 2018. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Corps as a flight engineer on C-47s, B-17s, and B-29s.

    Dad was the founder of the Broken Handle Mining Corporation in 1955 and was the President ever since. He began mining in high-altitude mines (El. 12,000 ft) in (more…)

    Dr. Jerald “Jerry” A. Griess, 85, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in Murfreesboro, TN from complications related to his blood pressure and Parkinson’s Disease. In hospice care for four days, Jerry passed on peacefully in his sleep.

    Ronald “Ron” Lee King of 412 Chalet Drive, Black Hawk died of complications stemming from pneumonia on Saturday, April 14 at Lutheran Hospital in Lakewood. He was 71 years old.

    Ron was preceded in death by his father, Donald and by one of his younger brothers, Wayne. Ron is survived by his wife Mickie of Black Hawk; his mother Eleanor of Sharon Springs, KS; and three married brothers: David and his wife Melody of Sharon Springs, KS; Alan and his wife Mimi of Grand Junction, CO; and Gary and his wife Adelaida of Black Hawk.
