    Harvey Merle McCollum passed away on Christmas Day 2019, in Hotchkiss, CO. He was born in Rollinsville, CO, to parents Donald and Roberta McCollum. He spent his childhood roaming the mountains and foothills of the Front Range while attending the small elementary school in Rollinsville.

    Daniel Edward Cooper, 67, passed away peacefully in Newport, California surrounded by family on November 22, 2019.

    Dan was born April 7, 1952, in Pueblo, Colorado. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a CW2 helicopter pilot. He went on to become a civilian helicopter pilot for companies including Petroleum Helicopters (Lafayette, LA), Life Flight (Peoria, IL), and Flight for Life (Cleveland, OH). (more…)

    Mary Taitt passed away on October 15, 2019 at 86 years of age. She was born in Arena, Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Wisconsin, and was an author and school teacher. After moving to Central City, she enjoyed being a tour guide at the Teller House in Central City in the ‘90s. She was married 61 years to Eugene Taitt. She is survived by their children John and Jeannie. Mass will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Central City, Colorado.

    Leslie Green, of Gilpin County, died last week. Leslie was born in Lakeview, New York on June 2, 1955. She moved to Colorado in 1980, where she had two children and attended college. Leslie worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 20 years.

    Leslie is survived by her mother; Joan Nowland; her daughter, Leah Green of Boise, ID; her son Gabriel Green of Houston, TX; and three brothers, along with other extended family members. (more…)

    Mary Louise Steele, 68, Arvada passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 in her home. Born on June 27, 1950 in Colorado she was the daughter of Rosemary A. (Miller) and Fred L. Dornbrock. Mary married Shawn Steele on September 21, 1996 and together they shared 23 years of marriage. Mary spent most of her life in Central City, before moving to Arvada 13 years ago. She worked in her mother’s antique shop in Central City before becoming a shift supervisor at a local casino.     David Wienbarg was born in Denver, Co January 14, 1956, and passed away unexpectedly April 26, 2019, at home. Dave loved his life in Central City and was often seen taking his dog, Mel, on long walks around town.

    He will lovingly be remembered by his son Jacob and grandson Jamison, as well as his aunt Mary Summers and many cousins and friends.

    James Frederick Erdman was born March 21, 1964 in Durango, Colorado to James Allen Erdman and Margaret (Mardi) Ann Erdman (Bredemeier). He died on April 24th in his apartment in Golden, Colorado with his beloved cat, Boo, beside him.

    James died of natural causes—organ failure due to the effects of his life-long struggle with alcoholism. James would move a mountain for a complete stranger. He’d give his last penny to a beggar. He loved animals and (more…)

    Don Lee Olhausen was born July 13, 1949. “Don O” died December 20, 2018 after a 10-year struggle with early onset Alzheimers.He was the only child of Erna and Henry “Heinie” Olhausen from Hartley and Arnold’s Park, Iowa who preceded him in death. Don is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Fonseca, his children: Donda Gorton and Drew Olhausen as well as three stepdaughters: Kenna Norton, Amanda Norton-Schaal and Alexis Fonseca-Chavez. (more…)

    Mark Steven Smith of Nederland passed away of cancer at the Boulder Community Hospital on February 10, 2019. He was born on June 17, 1956, to Micheal B. Smith and Jeannette McDonald Smith.
    He attended Nederland High School and was a Boulder County Road Supervisor. Mark was raised in Nederland, the second oldest son of the Smith family, son of a miner, and brother to two sisters and three brothers.

    In the final week of 2018, we were shocked with the sudden passing of a courageous leader in the Hip Hop Community, Noah Theeman Lindberg, better known in the dance community as “Poppin Agenda.” Born in Denver, May 23, 1987 to Reed Lindberg and Marge Theeman, Noah died of smoke inhalation when his quiet cabin in Gilpin County burned on December 25, 2018.
