    Central City resident Stuart Jennings Wyatt fell back into the arms of his creator and guided back to heavens this past Sunday the 4th of February. Stu was loved by everyone who met him, a friend to all, and a wonderful father to his two children whom so dearly he loved. Stu, a native of Arvada, was a man of incredible talent, creativity and personality. After High School Stu attended the Colorado Institute of Art and used his incredible artistic talents to eventually run his own a successful graphic design business for well over twenty years.     William Joseph Ewing, 91, peacefully passed away in his home in Black Hawk surrounded by loved ones on Sunday January 28, 2018.

    He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, and son, James. He is survived by his children Cathy, Chuck (Isela), Bart (Mary Kate), and Debbie Ellsworth. He was the proud and loving grandfather to 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. (more…)

    Bennie Laubhan, Jr., a long-time resident of Russell Gulch, died January 16, 2018 in Colorado Springs, following a prolonged battle with cancer.

    Bennie was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on November 16, 1934, and adopted by Eva and Bennie Laubhan, Sr. shortly after his birth. He graduated in 1953 from North High School in Denver, and enlisted immediately in the US Army. He served as Supply Clerk and Supply Sergeant for the 78th Field Maintenance Company in Korea in 1954 and 1955, finishing his military service at Fort Hood, Texas in 1956. (more…)

Chase passed away peacefully on January 7, 2018. Jim was born in Central City, Colorado on October 8, 1918 to Anna and James Chase. Anna died when Jim was a newborn in the 1918 influenza epidemic while his father James was in the Army, so Jim was raised by his Aunt Mary and Uncle Billy Hamilton in Central City.     Linold Nels Begg was born to Linold James Begg and Elizabeth Louise Thompson in the Krell house on Dory Hill Road in Black Hawk, Colorado. The family moved to the present home on Lawrence Street in Central City in 1941 where he was a life-long resident of 76 years with exception of two years he served in the US Army in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1964.  (more…)

He was raised in Black Hawk, Colorado and went to school in Idaho Spring where he graduated from high school in 1974.He moved to Alaska after high school where he worked in various trades over the years.
