County Staff Team-Building on May 3rd

With frozen fog and light snow Gilpin County Commissioners gathered for the last time this construction season at Central City Hall, for their regular Board of County Commissioners meeting, Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 9 am. On Friday, April 26 they will have their next executive session meeting at the Old Courthouse, 203 Eureka Street, back in their refreshed home first used in 1900. (more…)
City to auction off surplus equipment

The regular Black Hawk City Council meeting scheduled for March 28 was canceled. Aldermen met Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 1:30 pm, officially calling the meeting to order for a Comprehensive Plan Workshop before the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting. (more…)

Itchy Trigger Fingers at Council Work Session

A New Documentary including Georgetown

We’ve traveled across the United States visiting ghost town after ghost town in an effort to visually preserve their histories and legends. Each town had its own tales of ghosts, spirits and hauntings that we’ve put together in our new feature film “Ghosts in Ghost Towns: Haunting the Wild West.” Georgetown is featured in the film as we visited several locations like the Hamill House and conducted an investigation at the Hotel De Paris. On March 14, 2018, Edward Roy Lewandowski laid his single jack to rest on earth to search for the riches in heaven.He always looked forward to joining his wife Elaine, who pre-deceased him. Left behind, but not without the memories of both their parents, are EJ, Gary & Karen, their spouses, and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Grandpopsicle” Morstoel haunts the Rockies

Driving into Nederland, CO on Saturday, lines of cars were parked along the highway for a mile leading into town. If you didn’t know already, the 17th annual Frozen Dead Guy Days festival was taking place, and there were throngs of people for as far as you could see from Hwy 119 all the way down to Guercio Park by Barker Reservoir, and on every other highway leading into town from Boulder and Estes Park. Finally locating a parking spot, I parked the Jeep and strolled down East 1st Street, taking in all the sights and sounds. Even with the falling snow and chilly temps, there were poets espousing prose from makeshift stages, frozen turkey bowling in the street, beer tents and live music along both sides, and interesting people of all ages and walks of life to talk to. After hosting the Frozen Dead Guy Days Salmon Toss in Nederland, CO for sixteen years in a row, Hillary Stevenson needed a new venue for the event when the Sundance Café closed its doors. Turning to her friend Heather Hatwan, owner of the Stage Stop in nearby Rollinsville, Hillary found a perfect new home for the Salmon Toss, continuing the tradition. (more…)
