The event will include rarely-seen photographs from the newly-announced John Trezise Archive for Rollins Pass Imagery and the authors will discuss the significance of archaeological work being done on Rollins Pass to help document 10,000 years of history.     On Saturday, June 16, 2018, Central City hosted the 44th Annual Lou Bunch Day. This day honors the contribution of the madams, girls, and gentlemen callers, that helped drive the City’s prosperity and sordid history. The last madam to rule the roost on Pine Street was Lou Bunch whose name they adopted to name the event.     My dad, Edward R. Lewandowski, passed away on March 14, 2018. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Corps as a flight engineer on C-47s, B-17s, and B-29s.

    The Gilpin County Art Gallery will officially open its Juried Show, Saturday, June 2nd, at 10 am, for its 71st year of continued service. Manager Michele Roussel, Board Members and volunteers have prepared the iconic 1864 Washington Hall Building located at 117 Eureka Street in Central City.     The Central City Council met with Staff on May 1, 2018, for a work session prior to the regular council meeting. The topic of conversation was All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) regulations if a recreational program is installed within City Limits.     Frank Hall was born March 4, 1836 in Poughkeesie, Dutchess County, New York. Three years later, his father died and Frank went to live with family in Litchfield County, Connecticut. For the next five years, he attended common school before returning to New York and enrolling at Kingston Academy. After two and a half years at Kingston, he moved to Syracuse, NY. (more…)
