City to auction off surplus equipment

The regular Black Hawk City Council meeting scheduled for March 28 was canceled. Aldermen met Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 1:30 pm, officially calling the meeting to order for a Comprehensive Plan Workshop before the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting. (more…)

A spring thing

With only eight more days left of the ski season, Eldora Mountain Resort turned the fun up a notch hosting their 2nd Annual Pond Skim. Eighty entrants would try to make it all the way across one of two ponds or suffer the consequences. Chunks of ice were raked from the water before the proceedings began and everyone who had signed up was required to wear a helmet. (more…)

Double-lung transplant needed

Kim McMahon’s major lung concerns come from COPD and respiratory-bronchiolitis ILD, the worst kind. The air does not easily transfer through her lung cells as they become coated and are no longer flexible as normal when breathing. Her lungs ache from becoming hard, preventing oxygen from getting picked up by her red-blood cells. Her red blood cells are enlarged, a common response to actually attack her damaged lungs. (more…)

Timberline Fire Protection District board hopefuls gathered Timberline Station No. 5 Tuesday evening for a public meet and great. Ball earns second place berth in 200M at Thunderhawk Twilight Invitational

Thunderhawk Twilight Invitational
Gilpin High School’s varsity track and field squads traveled to Henderson on April 3 for the Thunderhawk Twilight Invitational meet. The boys’ team placed 12th out of 23 teams; Poudre was first overall. Senior runner Jack Ball placed second in the 400-meter dash, barely more than a second away from first place with a time of 52.78 seconds. Ball also placed fourth in the 800-meter. (more…)

The Central City Council met with Staff on April 3, 2018, for a work session prior to the regular council meeting. Topics of discussion were the Wild Bunch Gang and some other miscellaneous items. Mrs. Debra “Debbie” Renee Barngrover, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away unexpectedly in her home at the age of 48 on March 26th, 2018 of congestive heart failure.

In Clear Creek Canyon
PRESS RELEASE – On Tuesday afternoon of March 20th, a contract employee working on a rockfall mitigation project in Clear Creek Canyon was killed after falling nearly 70 feet. Both directions of the highway were closed after the accident which occurred early afternoon on Highway 6 south and east of Black Hawk. (more…)

A New Documentary including Georgetown

We’ve traveled across the United States visiting ghost town after ghost town in an effort to visually preserve their histories and legends. Each town had its own tales of ghosts, spirits and hauntings that we’ve put together in our new feature film “Ghosts in Ghost Towns: Haunting the Wild West.” Georgetown is featured in the film as we visited several locations like the Hamill House and conducted an investigation at the Hotel De Paris.
