New tighter restrictions effective November 13

Effective November 13, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) moved Gilpin County from the “Protect Our Neighbors – Level Green” phase to the “Safer at Home – Level Yellow” phase in the state’s Dial Framework. This move was a result of a rise in COVID-19 cases in the county and means stricter capacity limits for many businesses and activities. (more…)

On Thursday, November 12, 2020 the Gilpin County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) held a special online meeting to discussed rescinding support for the Forest Service closures, Rescinding three Gilpin County Public Health Orders (PHO), the adoption of PHO #20-14 (CDPHE PHO #20-36) for the COVID Dial, and a work session hammering out the 2021 Sheriff’s Office budget. “Mail-in ballots are dangerous, unconstitutional, a scam, and “rife with fraud. Absentee ballots are more secure than mail-in ballots. Votes are being cast on behalf of dead people and pets. Mail-in ballots will lead to a ‘rigged’ election.” Wow. With statements like these it is no wonder many people are feeling anxiety over whether their mail-in ballot is safe and if their vote will be counted. Colorado has been a mail-in ballot state since 2013 and has had all that time to perfect the process. (more…)

Due to wildfire threat caused by severe drought and wind

Due to unprecedented and historic fire conditions, the USDA Forest Service’s Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests is announcing a temporary closure of all National Forest land in Clear Creek, Jefferson, Gilpin, Boulder, and Larimer counties, effective at midnight tonight, Oct. 21. This decision will be re-evaluated daily as conditions change. (more…)

For Gilpin County Commissioner
PRESS RELEASE – Doug Lupo, running for District 3 Commissioner on the Republican ticket, has lived on Wagon Wheel Trail in Gilpin County for eight years. He did most of his school years abroad and in Virginia, was a 60th Session graduate of the Northern Virginia State Police Academy, and is a 12-year Army Veteran. Lupo worked in executive management for 13 years including hotel, retail, restaurant and bar management. He also worked for the Gilpin County Transfer Station and is currently working for Grapes and Sons Excavating (more…)
