Local candidates ask for your vote

At least 100 Gilpin County voters turned out at the Gilpin Community Center last Saturday morning, October 13, for an election forum. The audience heard the qualifications and positions of 11 candidates for the following Gilpin County offices: Board of County Commissioners, Sheriff, Assessor, Clerk and Recorder, and Treasurer. Big plans for promoting the city
PRESS RELEASE – Please allow me to introduce myself, I’m a man of family and faith. I’ve been in Central since February 2017 and already have several accomplishments to my name. I serve on the board of Gilpin Arts, revived the Jazz Festival with Central Jazz, and brought Denver Adventures and their Zip Lines to our town. I hope you enjoyed the Plein Air Arts Festival which I helped produced in proud partnership with the Opera House Association and Gilpin Arts. Protector of City Records since 1879
Shortly after the City offices moved into the new City Hall, in December 1877, the need for protected storage for the City’s records became apparent. The City Council apparently did some homework, and in the minutes of August 4, 1879, record is made that: “On motion of Alderman Wain, the Council purchased of Mosler Bahmann & Co. a No. 35 fire proof safe, size inside 48 inches high, 26 inches wide, 16 inches deep. Terms in Cincinnati Ohio, city warrants, for four hundred and fifty dollars, less freight to Black Hawk Colorado, due in 15 months from date of shipment, without interest.” (more…)
