The bell was rung by Sam Gerrity, Owner Representative from Saratoga Casino to announce the regular meeting of the Black Hawk City Council. The meeting was called to order on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. by Mayor David Spellman.

PRESS RELEASE – Sahari McCormick is running for Gilpin County Clerk and Recorder to replace the current clerk who is retiring. The Clerk’s office is so very important because the Clerk and Recorder has a connection to just about every person in the county. A Clerk and Recorder records all the details of property transactions, oversees the County Motor Vehicle Department, issues and records marriage licenses, records Commissioner Meeting minutes and conducts general, primary and special elections in the county. The Central City Council met with Staff on May 1, 2018, for a work session prior to the regular council meeting. The topic of conversation was All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) regulations if a recreational program is installed within City Limits. The Council was presented with a proposal to allow ATV and OHV operations on designated City streets along with samples of policies from other Colorado municipalities. (more…)

With frozen fog and light snow Gilpin County Commissioners gathered for the last time this construction season at Central City Hall, for their regular Board of County Commissioners meeting, Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 9 am. On Friday, April 26 they will have their next executive session meeting at the Old Courthouse, 203 Eureka Street, back in their refreshed home first used in 1900. (more…)
On Paid Administrative Leave
PRESS RELEASE – The Board of County Commissioners placed County Manager Leslie Klusmire on paid administrative leave on April 11, 2018 and relieved her of any further responsibility for County management, effective on that date. After much deliberation, the Board agreed that Ms. Klusmire’s management style was inconsistent with its goals, and it would benefit Gilpin County, its employees, and Ms. Klusmire to relieve her of her responsibilities.
