The Gilpin High School varsity football team got steamrollered by the Caliche Buffaloes (Iliff) 43-0 on Friday, August 24, in the first home game on Gilpin’s new field. I, Daurice McMillan am proud to announce my candidacy for Gilpin County Assessor. I bring twelve years of experience as the Chief Deputy Assessor for Gilpin County, plus two years of experience working in the Treasurer’s office.

Preseason in the NFL is a time to evaluate players and decide who will make the 53-man roster while hopefully establishing a cohesive unit that will produce both offensively and defensively. Off-season acquisitions and draft picks need to prove themselves in order to enter the starting lineup or simply secure a job. Veterans must demonstrate that they still have the right stuff that earned them a position on the team in the first place. (more…)

When Denver-based artist, Steve Griggs first visited Washington Hall Gallery in Central City, Colorado in 1989, he said out loud that he wanted to be in a gallery like it one day. At that time Griggs painted as a hobby and didn’t show his work to the public.
