Gilpin County Youth and High School Tournaments

The snowstorm of Friday night, December 16, put a stop to many people’s plans, but it was no match for the Gilpin County Youth Wrestlers. Girls’ varsity loses a 35-33 squeaker to Rocky Mountain Lutheran

14th Annual Winter Arts Festival hosts 50+ vendors plus local charities and musicians

Mountain folk headed to the Gilpin Community Center (GCC) on Saturday, December 10, for the 14th Annual Winter Arts Festival. It was a great way to support more than fifty local and regional arts and crafts vendors while shopping for unique gifts for family members. It was also an opportunity to donate to worthy causes, enjoy art by Gilpin school children, and to visit with friends old and new. (more…)

Born July 31, 1840 in Perryville, Kentucky, William Henry Yankee at an early age moved with his family to Sedalia, Missouri and grew up on a farm there. At only eighteen years of age he drove his oxen team from a prairie schooner across the plains of Missouri to Colorado. (more…)

New Gallery Exhibit in Central

As the temperatures drop and the snow starts to fly, Gilpin County Arts Association (GCAA) wants to help you ease into the cold months with their new exhibit in the gallery above the Central City Visitor’s Center titled Spring into Winter.
