    The Peak to Peak Players just wrapped another great performance with “Call Me Ned,” a musical farce featuring the ice man himself, Grandpa Bredo Morstol, which played three times during the 2019 Frozen Dead Guy Days festival at the Backdoor Theatre. The Players are comprised of life-long thespians and dramatic hobbyists alike which is reflected in the divergence of acting quality, but made up for in energy, enthusiasm, audience interaction, and a love of the craft.     Gilpin County High School students are getting out of the classroom and into the c-store as they work at EaglesMart, the enterprise begun in 2016 that provides real business experience for school credit.     Gilpin County Arts Association (GCAA) is making valuable use of the newly heated Washington Hall Gallery in Central City with the extraordinary exhibit, “Just Between Us” featuring sculptor/painter Walter Barton and oil painter W. Max (Bill) Thomason.     Gilpin girls defeat Nederland in final regular season game

    The Gilpin Eagles boys’ varsity basketball team took a loss in their home playoff game to the Lyons Lions 63-57 on Wednesday, February 20. That game was part of the first round of the 2019 2A District 7 tournaments, and the Eagles went into the match seeded fourth. If Gilpin had won, they would have taken third place at regionals. Youngsters at Gilpin Elementary School learned a bit about life in that Third World country on Wednesday, February 13, as Gilpin resident Josh Bloom visited the children in Elizabeth Hamilton’s second grade class and Susan Sepanik’s fourth grade class.
