Veterans saluted at Gilpin County School

It’s imperative that we not forget the many sacrifices made by our service men and women, living and dead, active duty and veterans. Accordingly, students, staff, community members, and active duty military personnel honored Gilpin County’s veterans with a tribute on Thursday morning, November 8, in the school’s auxiliary gym. It was a day not only to thank the veterans for their sacrifice and service, but also to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. (more…)

Verl Ray Jones passed away on October 22, 2018 at the age of 89 after a long illness. Verl was a long-time resident of Gilpin County and loved it there. Plans for a memorial service are in progress. Silent auction raises $2,376

It was a frightfully good time at the yearly Halloween Carnival and Trick or Treat Street held on Friday, November 2 at Gilpin County School. The Parent Teacher Association at Gilpin County hosted the carnival to raise money to support the teachers with their classroom needs. New non-profit fueled by generous and energetic crew

Things have changed somewhat since Gilpin’s theatre group for young people held its first “Taste of Broadway” performance in September 2017. At that time, the group was the Gilpin Elementary Theatre Department, and the goal of the “Taste of Broadway” show was to raise funds for the elementary school’s budding performing arts program. “Peak to Peak Players” brings a cabaret show to Gilpin

There’s always magic in the air on Broadway. There was quite a bit of it in the air in Gilpin County, too, on Saturday, October 20, as the Peak to Peak Players strutted their stuff to an appreciative audience at the Gilpin School auditorium.
