The Gilpin Library experienced a great September as we transitioned from summer into fall. The number of people visiting the Library has continued to increase as we’ve expanded hours and increased programming. Central City Opera’s Plein Air Festival

The mercury hung at 30 degrees as early morning sunshine cascaded through Gregory Gulch embracing leaves of yellow, orange and red, on Friday, September 27. A handful of early morning travelers squinted into the sun during their descent making it difficult to discern the bundled beings striking a pose gazing carefully into the distance with brushesin hand. City Council Approves Scholarship

Work Session
Council met with Staff for a Work Session immediately prior to the regular meeting on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. City Staff presented a funding option for the project which would enable the City to “sell” up to $900,000 in tax credits to business and keep 85% of the sales for the project. Grand opening of award-winning dispensary October 5

Black Hawk is home to The Green Solution’s (TGS) 18th dispensary location, now open daily from 8 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. at 231 Gregory Street, right off Highway 119. Friday night’s game Gilpin vs Soroco High School

Gilpin Homecoming Festivities

Gilpin County School celebrated Homecoming recently. To kick off the week students dressed as senior citizens on Monday and Twins on Tuesday. Canes and robes slowed students down, but to reclaim their youth they wore wacky shirts and socks as well as black on Wednesday and Thursday. The excitement continued as students and teachers faced off in a series of games at the pep rally. Students won by a landslide, but the real rivalry was between the (more…)
Friday night’s game vs the Hayden Tigers

Last Friday’s football game marked the Eagle’s homecoming and was their first league game this season. The game took place on our home field under the lights against the Hayden High School Tigers. Hello, my name is Joe Marr and I’m running for a position on the Gilpin County RE-1 School Board. The election is this November 5th. I Have my wonderful wife Mary, four adult children, and 17 (and #18 due this fall) grandchildren. I have owned and run a successful remodeling and construction business here for 15 years. The Crawley’s Swan Song

Benefiting the American Red Cross Bahamas relief fund
Yes, it is everywhere. And it will be on the walls of Salto from October 4th through October 30th. This is an eclectic exhibit depicting water painted in several media by local artist, Virginia Unseld. All profits from the sale of work will be donated to the American Red Cross Bahamas relief fund.
