After serving for eight years as Gilpin Coun-
ty’s Clerk and Recorder, Sahari McCormick (D)
won’t seek a third term, she told the Weekly
Register-Call in an exclusive interview Monday.

However, McCormick’s right-hand man, Chief
Deputy Clerk Joe Self, plans to take over the
position if he wins the Nov. 3 General Election.
Self has filed to run for the position and will
seek the Democratic nomination in the June

recorder since February 2023.
